DRINK HELLEBORUS è il titolo del progetto che vede protagonista la Grecia e l’Italia in un dialogo interdisciplinare nel campo della cultura e delle arti visive contemporanee. ll progetto parte il 5 settembre 2014 ad Antikyra in Grecia e termina nel 2015 a Lecce, Italia. La manifestazione è sotto il Patrocinio del Ministero della Cultura della Grecia, l’Assessorato al Mediterraneo, Cultura e Turismo della Regione Puglia, l’Assessorato alla Cultura, Turismo e Spettacolo del Comune di Lecce, Lecce 2019, l’Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Trepuzzi (Le), l’Assessorato alla Cultura di Antikyra e dei Municipi di Distomo e Arachova in Beotia.

Nel mese di Settembre 2014, dal 5 all’11 settembre, prenderanno il via una serie di manifestazioni, performances, mostre di arti visive, residenze artistiche, workshop, danze, seminari con visite ai templi, coordinate da Demetra PARASHARAKI del Museo «Allotropia», People’s Academy of Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Art, ad Antikyra, in Grecia, luogo della collezione permanente delle opere degli artisti italiani.
Negli spazi urbani della città e nella natura, le installazioni e le performance degli artisti in residenza: Silvia Maria GUARNIERI/Roma; Oronzo DE STRADIS/Mesagne(Brindisi); Maria Rosaria SACQUEGNA/Trepuzzi (Le); Francesco PERRONE/Trepuzzi (Le); Andrea BUTTAZZO/Lecce; Massimiliano MANIERI & Simona SCHIRINZI/Lecce.

Tutte le opere (compresa la documentazione delle azioni realizzate site specific) resteranno in collezione permanente grazie alla generosa donazione degli artisti a suggello del dialogo interculturale tra Italia e Grecia.

«Allotropia», People’s Academy of preservation of cultural heritage and contemporary art

Exhibition Permanent Collection and Art Residency in Greece

“What you need is Antikyra”, used to say the Ancient Greeks when someone was behaving in a peculiar way and they urged to Drink Helleborus, the herb that physicians of the time recommended for the cure of madness.

The 5th of September 2014, «Allotropia» People’s Academy of preservation of cultural heritage and contemporary art, organize a series of events and happenings with the title «Πιθ΄ Ελλέβορον» “ Drink Helleborus”, with theatrical performances, youth bands, fine art installations, exhibitions of art works, dances, chorales, symposiums.

In the 1st series of events from the 5th to the 11th of September, in collaboration with the Primo Piano LivinGallery of Lecce, South Italy, thirty two artists from Italy, painters and sculptors will participate. Their works on the theme of folly will be exhibited and will remain in Antikyra for the creation of a permanent collection gallery. The selection of works and care of them, has be done by Dores Sacquegna, from Primo Piano LivinGallery, Italy.

A painting exhibition on folly of Constantine Angelou will also be open to the public.

The concept of the project was curated by Polyxene Kasda in collaboration with Demetra Parasharaki.

Allotropia, has recently created in Antikyra folk halls with a wide variety of exhibits, art halls, a library of 20.000 rare editions, an antique restoration workshop and a hall for Greek traditional folk dance seminars.

The cultural events are under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Greece, the Department of Mediterranean Culture and Tourism of the Region of Puglia, the Municipality of Lecce, the Municipality of Trepuzzi, the Municipal Unit of Antikyra and the Municipality of Distomo, Arachova and Antikyra.
