INTRA MUNDI: Legami, transiti e approdi di un presente imperfetto

Dal 16 al 30 Giugno 2021, presso la Fondazione Palmieri a Lecce, è allestita la mostra d’arte contemporanea “Intra Mundi: legami, transiti e approdi di un presente imperfetto”, ideata e curata da Dores Sacquegna, e coordinata da Primo Piano LivinGallery | Progetti & Servizi per l’Arte Contemporanea. Con il Patrocinio del Comune di Lecce, il giorno 18 Giugno dalle ore 19:30, si inaugura l’evento alla presenza delle autorità locali.

Martedì 29 Giugno alle ore 18:30 incontro-confronto “ AUTORITRATTO” con l’artista multidisciplinare TARSHITO, alla presenza dell’assessore alla Cultura, Fabiana Cicirillo (finissage).
La mostra
Seguendo la pratica dell’etnografia del viaggio, INTRA MUNDI approda a Lecce, con il suo carico di navigatori visionari per dare vita ad una Odissea contemporanea. L’evento si snoda tra la fedeltà alle proprie radici e il rischio di perderle e trova la sua terraferma in un territorio fluido e suscettibile a continue ibridazioni storiche, sociali e ambientali. Intra Mundi pone attenzione alla Natura, luogo di cura, insegnamento e radice delle nostre esistenze. Intra Mundi è dimensione onirica e spazio dell’eterno fluire. In mostra artisti nazionali e internazionali con opere multimediali di grande impatto visivo.
Gli artisti
Nei legami con la terra, le recenti opere degli alberi geografici sacri e la scultura Una sola terra, una sola umanità di Tarshito, artista e architetto barese e cittadino del mondo; gli alberi guardiani in carta Washi della svizzera Marilou Pilou Glinz, l’olivo, simbolo dell’albero della vita, dell’ olandese Ida Kleiterp. Tra natura, spazio e tempo, le opere della artista tedesca Janine von Thüngen, residente a Roma e nota per le sue sculture monumentali della serie Eternity esposte a Villa Foscari (o La Malcontenta di Palladio a Mira), e qui con opere più piccole ma altrettanto significative, legate all’anima dell’universo e a Lilith e ai suoi culti della fertilità. Sulla forza e la cura della natura, l’opera dell’artista milanese Maria Luisa Imperiali e del greco George Syrakis, nella dualità tra vita e morte e i link alle radici del passato con la giapponese Tomomi Sato. In mostra il video-documento di The One world painting, sull’attività di oltre 40 anni della Land Artista tedesca Ulrike Arnold, girato in cinque continenti.
Il tempo del mito, relegato spesso a una dimensione arcaica non è finito, si è solo trasformato e nella nuova realtà crossmediale troviamo le cosmogonie dell’artista francese Mael DeNegri, gli emisferi quantici della leccese Maria Gabriella Marra e i video identitari dell’artista turca Şebnem Yüksel, e il video dell’artista inglese Louisa Potapchick, che ci trasporta nell’immaginifico di una poesia semi-scientifica sulla natura semantica, olografica e quantistica dei geni umani. Tra antiche mappe celesti e simmetrie spezzate dalla pandemia, rispettivamente le opere dell’artista canadese Tanya P. Johnson e della spagnola Rå Ballester.
Nella sessione Transiti e approdi, l’acqua come simbolo della fusione con il tutto che scorre, nel video del duo artistico francese Nancy e Philip Barwell e tra realtà e fantascienza, il video apocalittico Hydra di Sara Tirelli (ispirato dal romanzo “il mondo sommerso” di James Ballard) e girato a Venezia, una opera che suggerisce nuove modalità di percezione dell’esistenza stessa, dovuta al cambiamento climatico. Mare evaporato e memento mori nelle opere dell’artista barese Massimo Ruiu, dove l’ecosistema marino – e non solo – potrebbero rimanere dei ricordi, se non prendiamo atto della priorità di difesa del nostro habitat, come del resto anche della natura colonizzata dai rifiuti nell’opera dell’olandese Nel Ten Wolde. Provvisorietà, transizione, impermanenza nei paesaggi dei francesi Thimotée Peignier e Beatrice Desrousseaux . Chiude la rassegna il video “Immagina il cambiamento: conversazioni costiere”, un documentario a più voci, incluso il lavoro dell’artista britannico Simon Read (le cui opere-mappe sono collezionate tra gli altri dal Guggenheim di NY).
In INTRA MUNDI, gli artisti riflettono, il pensiero e l’identità di quest’epoca così caotica, restituendoci la muta testimonianza delle contraddizioni, delle conseguenze e dei pericoli a cui il genere umano si è volontariamente esposto, al fine di soddisfare la propria sete di conoscenza e il proprio desiderio di superare ogni limite.

From 16 to 30 June 2021, at the Palmieri Foundation in Lecce, the contemporary art exhibition “Intra Mundi: Ties, transits and landings of an imperfect present” is set up and curated by Dores Sacquegna, and coordinated by Primo Piano LivinGallery | Projects & Services for Contemporary Art Primo. Under Auspices of Lecce’ s municipality , on June 18th from 7:30 pm, in conjunction with the opening day, the interactive live performance WAP (World After Plastic) by and with Massimiliano Manieri and Piermatteo Vantaggiato will take place.

The exhibition
Following the practice of travel ethnography, INTRA MUNDI arrives in Lecce, with its load of visionary navigators to give life to a contemporary Odyssey. The event unfolds between loyalty to one’s roots and the risk of losing them and finds its mainland in a fluid territory susceptible to continuous historical, social and environmental hybridizations. Intra Mundi pays attention to Nature, a place of healing, teaching and the root of our lives. Intra Mundi is a dreamlike dimension and space of eternal flow, and among the waves, we will find the traces and memories of aimless travelers, because after all, the landscape itself is the destination.
The artists
In the links with the earth, the recent works about holy geographic trees and the sculpture One land, one humanity by Tarshito, Italian artist and architect and citizen of the world; the guardian trees in the Washi paper and the sculptures by the Swiss artist Marilou Pilou Glinz, the olive tree, symbol of life, in the works by Dutch artist Ida Kleiterp. Between nature, space and time, the works by German artist Janine von Thüngen, based in Rome and known for her monumental sculptures from the “Eternity” series exhibited at Villa Foscari (or La Malcontenta villas by Andrea Palladium in Mira), and here on display with smaller but equally significant works, linked to the soul of the universe and to Lilith and the cults of fertility. On the strength and care of nature, the work by Italian artist Maria Luisa Imperiali and by Greek artist George Syrakis, in the duality between life and death and links to the roots of the past, the works by Japanese artist Tomomi Sato. On display, also the video documents of The One world painting, on the activity of over 40 years by German Land Artist Ulrike Arnold, shot on five continents.
The time of myth, often relegated to an archaic dimension, is not over, it has only transformed and in the new cross-media reality we find the cosmogonies by French artist Mael DeNegri, the quantum hemispheres by Italian artist Maria Gabriella Marra and the videos works by Turkish artist Şebnem Yüksel and by English artist Louisa Potapchick, who bring us to the imaginative nature of a semi-scientific poem on the semantic, holographic and quantum nature of human genes. Among ancient and celestial maps and symmetries broken by the pandemic, respectively, the works by Canadian artist Tanya P. Johnson and Spanish artist Rå Ballester.
In the session Transits and landings, water as a symbol of fusion with everything that flows, in the video by French artistic duo Nancy and Philip Barwell and between reality and science fiction, the apocalyptic video “Hydra” by Sara Tirelli (inspired by the novel of “the drowned world” by James Ballard) and shot in Venice and which suggests new ways to perception of existence itself, due to climate change. Sea evaporated and memento mori in the works by Italian artist Massimo Ruiu, where the marine ecosystem – and not only – could remain memories, if we do not take action to defend our habitat, as indeed in the nature colonized by waste in the work by Dutch artist Nel Ten Wolde, based in Australia. Temporary nature, transition, impermanence in the landscapes by French artists Thimotée Peignier and in the marea by Beatrice Desrousseaux. The review ends with the video “Imagine change: coastal conversations”, featuring the work of British artist Simon Read (whose works-maps are collected by the Guggenheim in NY, among others), on the changing East Anglian coastline of Britain.
In INTRA MUNDI’ s exhibition, the artists reflect the thought and identity of this chaotic era, giving us the silent testimony of the contradictions, consequences and dangers to which mankind has voluntarily exposed itself, in order to satisfy one’s thirst for knowledge and one’s desire to overcome all limits.
